Sports Post

There are two major stories today that have me interested. 1. The Green Bay Packers reportedly offered Brett Favre $20 million over the next 10 years to stay retired. That is amazing. I wish I could find and employer that I could work for for 16 years, retire, un-retire and they would offer me that kind of money to stay home. They wouldn't even have the last word out of their mouth before I agreed 2. The Boston Red Sox traded Manny Ramirez. This one is tough for me because I am a Red Sox fan and I think that Manny and Big Papi were the best one-two-punch in baseball. However, when a player starts undermining the organization and making some of the comments that he made over the last few days, it is time for him to leave. It is amazing to me that the Red Sox wanted him gone so badly that they are paying the remaining amount of his salary for this season and traded some prospects for Jason Bay. Now Jason Bay is a nice player, but is he going to protect Big Papi the way Man-Ram did? I don't think so. Until next time...

Conversation with Cooper

That's right, I had a conversation with Cooper yesterday. It was short, but I would classify it as a conversation.

Me: Hey Coop!
Cooper: Hi Papa.......how you?
M: I'm good Cooper, how are you?
C: I fine.

Allison and I looked at each other and cracked up laughing. We couldn't believe what just happened. It was hilarious. Cooper has done several "new things" over the past few weeks. It seems that he has spurts where he develops a lot and then he planes off for a bit. The past two weeks have definitely been one of those spurts. If only he would have a growth spurt like that. Until next time...

God at Work

About three weeks ago Allison wrote a letter to a friend of hers. Since we do not mail things very often we didn't have any stamps. I told Allison that I would take it to the post office that is across the street from my office. Well that morning, when getting Cooper out of the car for daycare, I knocked it in the floor and didn't see it when I got to the office. That afternoon I found the letter in the floor and put it in my sun visor. Well, let's just say sometime later I remembered the letter and took it to the post office. This week Allison got an e-mail from her friend saying that she had a tough week and Allison's letter was one of the bright spots of the week for her. It never ceases to amaze me when I see things like this happen. God's timing is always perfect. Until next time...

Pei Wei and the Park

Yesterday Allison and I decided to go to an early dinner and then stop by the park on the way home. We ate good food and then had a really good time playing with Cooper at the park. While at Pei Wei Cooper was playing with chop sticks as if they were drum sticks. Then after seeing Allison and I eating with them he decided to try it out. He used one, sort of like spoon, and was actually able to get some rice from the plate to his mouth.

She's a Great Mommy

There are many great thing about my wife. She is a great friend, a great wife, and over the past 19 1/2 months I have realized what a great mom she is. Tonight she was washing her face and she looked at me and said "I am going to wash my face and then go rock Cooper." This may seem unusual to many of you because you know that we have been adamant about not rocking him to sleep and doing other things that we felt would make life harder on him and us in the long run. However, sometimes she gets an itch to go in and just hold him or rock him while he sleeps. Well she had been in his room for about an hour and I went to check on them, knowing I would find both of them asleep. To my surprise, Cooper was in his bed and she was asleep in the glider next to him. I asked her what she was doing and she said "resting." I just love the fact that she just wants to be near Cooper. There are so many children in this country, and others, whose parent couldn't care less about them. I am so thankful that Allison cares so much for that little boy that she would just want to "rest" in a chair next to his bed. Until next time...

Sunday Dinner

On most Sundays we go to my mom's for dinner. This week Cooper's Aunt BeBe had a surprise for him. She had a little bubble blower. It looks sort of like a pistol with a fan on the front and several holes. You put the "fan" in the bubble tray, press the button, and it blows bubbles. Of course Cooper loved it. Some of the pictures are below. Until next time...

First Fat Lip

Well tonight Cooper got his first fat lip. I am positive that it won't be his last. It hurts me too because I was the one holding his hand when he fell. We went to eat dinner with our good friends the Tidwells at the Catfish Place. Cooper and I were walking across the parking lot when he stumbled. His hand slipped out of mine and he fell face first on the pavement. When I picked him up the outside of his mouth had little pieces of gravel and that's when I knew that it was not going to be pretty. The inside of his lip was busted and after about a minute his nose started bleeding. I felt horrible and Allison was really scared at the sight of his nose bleeding. I went and got him a popsicle because he wouldn't let us keep ice on it and he seemed to feel better throughout dinner. I still feel bad. Until next time...
