I have been a sports fan for as long as I can remember. When I was a kid I probably watched pro baseball games at least 5 days a week. I didn't generally watch complete games, but I was always watching. As I have gotten older I watch more football than baseball, but there is one event that I always try to watch as much as I can--The College World Series. I am always amazed at how good the players are. Similar to college football, there is almost always lots of excitement in college baseball. Maybe it's my connection to baseball in general, maybe it's the sound of the bat, or maybe it's a combination of everything that goes into each game, but I love it each June when the eight teams converge onto Rosenblatt Stadium.

Welcome Back to Omaha

Score One For the USA
Today the USA won the Ryder Cup for the first time since 1999. The USA was a huge underdog and it was considered a foregone conclusion that Europe was going to win, it was just a matter of by how much. Well, thanks in part to two Kentuckians, the USA won by its largest margin since 1981. I saw a picture earlier of Boo Weekly. The caption below it said tat after he hit his drive on #1 he put his driver between his legs and pretended he was riding a horse down the fairway, Happy Gilmore style. Now that's awesome!

Bejing 2008
This has been a great week of the Olympic games. I really enjoy watching the games, and I have especially enjoyed watching Michael Phelps win 7 gold medals. The majority of Olympic athletes do not even make it to the final of their event and this guy has won 7 gold medals this year and 13 total for his career. Amazing!

SEC Football
Once again, the SEC appears to be ready to dominate the college football scene. I know it is a preseason poll, but the coaches poll is out and there are 3 SEC teams in the top 6, and 5 in the top 25. We are only 26 days from the first Thursday night games, and 30 days from FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE!

Sports Post
There are two major stories today that have me interested. 1. The Green Bay Packers reportedly offered Brett Favre $20 million over the next 10 years to stay retired. That is amazing. I wish I could find and employer that I could work for for 16 years, retire, un-retire and they would offer me that kind of money to stay home. They wouldn't even have the last word out of their mouth before I agreed 2. The Boston Red Sox traded Manny Ramirez. This one is tough for me because I am a Red Sox fan and I think that Manny and Big Papi were the best one-two-punch in baseball. However, when a player starts undermining the organization and making some of the comments that he made over the last few days, it is time for him to leave. It is amazing to me that the Red Sox wanted him gone so badly that they are paying the remaining amount of his salary for this season and traded some prospects for Jason Bay. Now Jason Bay is a nice player, but is he going to protect Big Papi the way Man-Ram did? I don't think so. Until next time...
