Recent Happenings

As any of you that read this have probably noticed, I haven't been posting much lately. I don't exactly know why, maybe I just haven't had anything to say. Here are some things that have been going on:

Cooper and Alli have both been sick, to varying degrees, for about three weeks. I picked up ear drops for Cooper for the second time in that span and Alli has been coughing consistently for almost the entire time.

I traveled to Knoxville on Saturday afternoon for work. Once a year each of our stores take annual inventory. Because I work in retail accounting I had to pick a store to be the observer. I originally chose Lexington and we were going to make it a family trip but that got cancelled. I then chose Knoxville because of the familiarity. We were at the store until about 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning, back at 1:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon, and then I left to blaze the trail back home at about 6:00 p.m. eastern time. The trip was fine, but I missed A & C.

Church is going well. We are in a study that I am really enjoying. It is called "Tough Sayings of Jesus II." We are going to start the third lesson soon. If you have a Sunday school class or small group that is looking for something challenging and extremely interesting I would definitely recommend it.

Basketball season comes to an end tonight and tomorrow. Tonight Memphis takes on Kansas for the national title and tomorrow Tennessee takes on Stanford. This year's men's tournament has been great, even though my bracket was garbage. I have to admit last night was the first game of the women's tournament I have watched and I will watch tomorrow also. Hopefully the Lady Vols can make it two in a row.

Last, I found out today that I passed the ethics portion of the CPA exam. It was take home so I am not particularly surprised, although you have to make a 90% to pass. Now I will be waiting on the State to send me the application to become licensed and then get my certificate.

That's the past few weeks in a nutshell. Hopefully I can get back on track with updating regularly. Until next time...

Almost Official

Some of you that read this may be wondering about the exam and whether I passed. Well, I did. I finally passed all four parts of the CPA exam. I found out last Thursday at about 5:30 a.m. Unfortunately I have dropped the ball a little on updating my blog. Now I must pass an ethics exam before I can be licensed in Tennessee. I have ordered it and should get it in the next few days. Once I take that and send it in, the AICPA will notify the state and they will send me an application to be licensed in Tennessee. I am not sure what all that entails, but I know the most stressful part is over. Thanks for all of you who have thought about and prayed for me during this time, it is greatly appreciated.

The Wait is Driving Me Crazy

I feel like I have been waiting forever. It will only be three weeks tomorrow, but when you are anticipating something this big three weeks can be an eternity. It sort of feels like Christmas did when I was a little kid. The only difference is we knew Christmas was going to be a great time. I definitely feel like this will be a great time, but there is always that chance that it will be horrible. Hopefully I will get them tomorrow and the wait will be over. Until next time...

A Long Road Is Almost Over

I know that this picture may be cheesy, but most of you who read this know what long, painful journey the CPA exam has been for me. For the most part (okay about 99%) the long and painfulness has been self inflicted, but I have now passed 3 parts of the CPA exam and this picture is the latest part! For whatever reason, BEC has been the hardest part for me to pass. I took it, and failed, multiple times. Today I took AUD. This is the part that I passed last April, but because I didn't pass the remaining three parts within 18 months it expired. I have refused to check the grades knowing that if it was below 75 I would be down and lower my chances of passing AUD today. Hopefully three weeks from now I will be a Certified Public Accountant and all of this will be behind me. Stay tuned for updates on the last remaining score. Until next time...

Back in the Saddle

This is my first post in almost two weeks. I just really haven't had anything to say. So for the 3 people that read this, hopefully this will fill a portion of your day with a little of what is about to occur in my world...

...back to studying for the CPA exam. As you know from an earlier post I failed BEC, again. For some reason I have had a much harder time with that section than the others. Each time I have actually taken the time to study the amount that is necessary to pass the exam I have passed, except for BEC. Hopefully this time will be different. I started today at lunch and will study for about 6 weeks and then take the section. I will then study for another 4 to 6 weeks and take AUD. Hopefully then it will be the take home ethics portion and certified at last. So for the next 10 to 12 weeks I will put away the guitar, the books will get put on hold, and I will be staying up really late again. Hopefully I can find the time to keep any of you reading informed on what's happening around here.

Until next time...

Pass, or Die Tryin'

Well I have taken the CPA exam, and once again I got grades and I am not yet a CPA. The worst part about it is, I now have to re-take a part that I already passed. The good thing about getting my grades was that I passed what is considered to be the hardest part, FAR. Now it's back to studying and hopefully I can get this finished so I don't have to worry with it anymore. Durn! Until next time...
